PRESS RELEASE: A. Le Coq Becomes the Presenting Sponsor of Moonsund Regatta |
A. Le Coq and organisers of the Moonsund Regatta - ESS Kalev Yacht Club , Pärnu Yacht Club, Saaremaa Marine Sports Society and the Estonian Yachting Union - signed a sponsorship deal that will make the biggest beverage producer the presenting sponsor of the Moonsund Regatta.
A. Le Coq 57. Moonsund Regatta will take place this summer from July 12 until July 19. The regatta is international and expects at least 120 teams and 800 crewmembers from Estonia and abroad.
According to Indrek Ilves from ESS Kalev Yacht Club the first Moonsund Regatta was held in 1958 when a dozen yachts decided to sail from Riga to Tallinn. “This friendly race from 60 years ago has grown into Estonian offshore sailing championships and the largest regatta of the Baltic Sea with hundreds of participants, both from Estonia and abroad.”
The international scope of the regatta sets its own terms on the organisation of the event and heightens responsibility. Therefore, a well-known and respected presenting sponsor is a welcome and long-awaited occasion. “A. Le Coq is the biggest beverage producer in Estonia. They are also an established supporter of culture and sports, which makes them a trustworthy partner,” explains Ilves. He added that this sponsorship enables them to further develop the regatta’s organisation and cultural programme as it is very important to perform well not only on the sea but also to engage harbours and people on land.
Tarmo Noop, Chairman of A. Le Coq, deems Moonsund Regatta a sustainable and established sporting tradition. “We value traditions and this brought us to sponsor one of the oldest and most unique competitions in Estonia”, said Noop. “Our summers are short and we are proud to support an international regatta of this scope and an Estonian offshore sailing competition,” he added.
