A. Le Coq 61st Moonsund Regatta sets sail today |
The A. Le Coq 61st Moonsund Regatta proudly begins today, highlighting Kalev Yacht Club’s 70th birthday, Estonian Yachting Union’s 90th anniversary, and the centenary of the Republic of Estonia (Estonia 100) during the week of upcoming races.
“The
Moonsund Regatta and the Estonia 100 maritime celebrations expand our centenary
to the seas”, commented Tiit Pruuli, member of the Steering Group of
Estonia 100. “In this year of many jubilees, the circle of people embraced by
the celebrations will be much wider than usual because this year all four
marinas hold Estonia 100 maritime festivities and on top of the races there
will be a leisure fleet participating too”.
Egon
Elstein, President
of the Yachting Union calls attention to the three jubilees: Estonia 100,
Yachting Union 90 and Kalev Yacht Club 70. “On the 7th of July 109
yachts with 700 crew members from five countries – Russia, Latvia, Lithuania,
Finland and Estonia – kick off seven days of high-spirited competitions.
However, many more people can hop on board thanks to the leisure fleet and the festivities
that are open to all fans.“
The list of participating teams can be found here: http://muhuvain.ee/regatt2018/osavotjad
