A. Le Coq 67th Muhu Väin Regatta Begins Monday | 15 Jul 24, piret.salmistu

Over the past few days, technical and safety checks were conducted, and by Sunday evening, 101 yachts from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland had registered for the regatta. The fleet includes 16 yachts in the largest ORC I group, 23 in ORC II, 20 in ORC III, and 18 in ORC IV. Additionally, 16 Folkboats and 8 yachts in the cruising group will participate. The first race day, Monday, July 15th, features a shorter offshore stage – the Pro Marine Trade Tallinn Round.

The competition is expected to be fierce, with many previous year's class winners and podium finishers from other regattas participating. In the ORC I group, defending champion FORTE (X-41), led by Jaak Jõgi will face tough competition from SHADOW (J-112E) and the new yacht NOLA (MAT 1220). Expect a strong performance also from 5 teams from Latvia.

In ORC II, last year's silver medalist AMSERV TOYOTA SAILING TEAM (First 36.7) and Aivar Tuulberg's KATARIINA II (Arcona 340) are strong contenders, especially with the absence of last year's winner, Sugar. Watch out for MY-CAR (X-35 mod), CASSANDRA (First 34.7), and JAZZ (First 35).

ORC III features defending champion BRIGITTA (Cross 31) and current leader of the Estonian Offshore Cup, BELLATRIX (X-99).

In ORC IV, a strong duel is expected between last year's winner LAGLE III (Finn Express 83) and silver medalist VESILEENU (Polaris).

The Folkboat class will see new rivalries, with the return of past champions and strong contenders.

The A. Le Coq Muhu Väin Regatta is also a critical preparation event for many Estonian teams ahead of the ORC European Championships in August in Åland.

Expect tight competition for the regatta and Estonian championship titles. ORC III and ORC IV classes will also award Estonian championship medals to the top performers. The competition features five classes, including four ORC classes and a Folkboat class, with special awards for cruiser yachts and wooden hull Folkboats.
